Is it permissible for a Muslim woman to change her first name to an Islamic name and change her family name to her mother's family name (her maternal grandfather's name) instead of her father's name before marriage?

What the woman wants to do — change her name to an Islamic name and disassociate herself from her ex-husband — is correct. However, it is not permissible for her to affiliate herself with anyone other than her biological father, due to the Almighty’s saying: (Call them by [the names of] their fathers), and the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "He who affiliates himself with other than his father, then upon him is the curse of Allah, the angels, and all of mankind."
