What is the ruling on the "Sawa" prepaid telecommunication card, which expires after two months if not used?

A telecommunications card is a permissible ijara (leasing/rental) contract. It enables the purchaser to utilize one of the telecommunications authority's lines to make phone calls within a specified period, such as two months. If the purchaser does not use the card's value within this period, their right to benefit from it lapses. There is no issue with not specifying the line beforehand, as this falls under the category of leasing a shared asset (ijarat al-musha'a), which is permissible according to the majority of jurists through temporal sharing (muhayat zamaniah). This is supported by the verse: "And inform them that the water is to be divided between them, each drink being presented in turn" (Quran 54:28), and what is established regarding the Companions taking turns riding during the Battle of Badr. Furthermore, the lapse of the right to benefit after the specified period does not prevent its permissibility, as it results from the purchaser's negligence. These cards serve a need and benefit for people without any Sharia prohibition.
