There is no evidence in the Qur'an or Sunnah regarding the virtue of specific surahs for facilitating childbirth. This is an ijtihad (independent reasoning) by some scholars, such as Ibn Al-Qayyim, who mentioned that Imam Ahmad used to write certain verses for women experiencing difficult labor. Sheikh Ibn 'Uthaymeen pointed out the absence of anything in the Sunnah but opined that reciting verses indicating ease, such as "Allah intends for you ease," or those speaking of pregnancy and childbirth, like "When the earth is shaken," is beneficial and proven, by Allah's will, because the entire Qur'an is a healing. Sheikh Salih Al-Fawzan stated that he is unaware of any basis for this specificity in reciting certain surahs to facilitate childbirth, unless there are narrations from the Companions or scholars.
