What is the ruling on reciting a short surah in the third and fourth rak'ahs according to the Hanafi school of thought?

The jurists of the four schools of thought, including the Hanafis, have stated that the place for reciting a surah is in the first two rak'ahs of a four-rak'ah or three-rak'ah prayer. The intention is that the worshiper is required to recite a surah after the Fatiha, or part of the Quran, in the first two rak'ahs of a four-rak'ah or three-rak'ah prayer. This is considered a sunnah (recommended act) according to the Malikis, Shafi'is, and Hanbalis, and it is obligatory according to the Hanafis.

As for reciting a surah or part of the Quran after the Fatiha in the third and fourth rak'ahs, it is permissible according to the Hanafis, even if it is not required.
