Is a person considered sinful if he remembers a woman he previously loved who got married, and is he rewarded for suppressing this feeling and seeking recompense from Allah?

Allah Almighty expiates sins and rewards contentment with His decree during calamities. There is no sin in inner thoughts as long as they are not acted upon or spoken. Whoever conceals his love and abstains from the unlawful will be rewarded for it. The meaning of the hadith, "Whoever loves and remains chaste, then dies, is a martyr," is sound and indicates piety and patience.
