Are feelings of fear of death, constriction in the heart, seeing friends drift away, and imagining death, signs that indicate the proximity of death?

What you have mentioned does not indicate the proximity of death, for the appointed term [of life] is fixed, neither delayed nor advanced. Your effort and your prayer to Allah to distance yourself from bad company is commendable, and you should not regret it. Rather, replace them with righteous company that will help you in your studies and obedience, for a person is on the religion of his friend, and the company of the righteous inherits success. We advise you to accompany the Book of Allah Almighty, to recite it, and to memorize it.
