What is the ruling on a wife refusing her husband's bed, describing him as ugly and fat, and demanding a divorce, while the husband wishes to keep her?

It is forbidden for the wife to refuse her husband's bed without a legitimate Sharia-compliant excuse. If she does so, she deserves to be cursed, and her right to maintenance and equitable division of time (Qasm) is forfeited. If a wife dislikes her husband and believes she cannot fulfill his rights, it is permissible for her to seek Khul' (divorce at the wife's instance). It is permissible for the husband to divorce her in exchange for a compensation from her, especially if she is disobedient (nashiz) or at fault.
