What should I do about my feeling of confusion regarding proposing to a female colleague, as sometimes I feel comfortable with her and sometimes I don't, and I haven't found a sign after repeating Salat al-Istikhara for two weeks?

There are three signs for Istikhara (guidance-seeking prayer): a righteous dream, a feeling of ease in the heart, and the facilitation of the matter. The presence of any one of these is sufficient. The questioner is warned against speaking with women without need or necessity, and he must cease doing so and adhere to the legitimate Islamic ways of marriage by proposing to the girl if she is of good character and religious commitment. Otherwise, it is better to stay away from her, in accordance with the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Marry the religious one, and you will be successful."
