Is covering a woman's coffin considered an innovation (bid‘ah) because the Prophet (peace be upon him) did not command it, despite the existence of a reason for it, unlike the Prophet's birthday (Mawlid), which is considered an innovation despite being based on the principle of venerating the Prophet (peace be upon him)?

Covering the woman's bier (coffin) is recommended by the majority of scholars. It has been narrated from companions such as Anas ibn Malik and Umar ibn al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with them, that they used a green bier and covered it to increase concealment, and this is considered among the legal proofs. As for celebrating the Prophet's birthday (Mawlid), it is one of the innovations (bid'ah) introduced by the Fatimids, and a Muslim is forbidden from imitating the people of misguidance. Concealment is a good custom in funerals, whereas celebrating the Mawlid is a newly invented act of worship not mentioned in Islamic law.
