ما هو صيام الوصال؟

1 min readAlso available in العربية

"Al-wisal" in fasting means that a Muslim fasts for two or more days without breaking their fast. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, practiced "wisal," but he forbade his community from doing so out of mercy for them. He said: "Do not practice 'wisal.'" They said: "But you practice 'wisal.'" He replied: "I am not like you; my Lord feeds me and gives me drink while I sleep." The Prophet practiced "wisal" with them for two days or two nights to deter them. "Al-wisal" is considered reprehensible (makrooh) by most scholars, and among the Shafi'is, it is considered reprehensible to the point of being unlawful (karahat tahrim). Sheikh Ibn Uthaymin was of the opinion that its ruling is prohibition (tahrim).
