What is the ruling on taking back a wife with whom intercourse was not consummated, and whose virginity was not broken, and does she have to observe the ‘iddah if she is divorced?

If a man has consummated his marriage with his wife, her divorce is revocable (raj'i), and she observes the waiting period (iddah) of divorce. The husband has the right to take her back during her iddah without a new contract. It is not permissible for a woman to seek divorce without a legitimate Shar'i reason. Proper seclusion (al-khalwah al-sahihah) has the same ruling as consummation.
