Who is Sa'id ibn al-Harith, and did he see the Houris three days before his death?

The story of Sa'id ibn al-Harith and the Houry was narrated by Ibn al-Nahhas from Abu al-Hasan (definition) al-Sulami. It tells of a mujahid (striver in the path of God) named Sa'id ibn al-Harith, who was known for his devotion and diligence. He had a dream in which he was given glad tidings of Paradise and saw his status and his houry (celestial maiden). He was told that his remaining time in this world was three nights, after which he would break his fast with the houry. Sa'id awoke from his sleep and continued his struggle with great vigor. After three days, he was martyred by the Byzantines, and his vision was fulfilled. Although the chain of narration for this story is not confirmed, it is mentioned for its lesson and is considered one of the righteous visions seen by a Muslim.
