Is semen ritually pure or impure?

Scholars have differed regarding the purity of human semen. Imam Shafi'i and Imam Ahmad were of the view that it is pure, while Imam Malik and Abu Hanifa were of the view that it is impure. The website has favored the opinion of its purity, based on authentic hadiths narrated by Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, who used to rub it off the garment of the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. Had it been impure, rubbing it would not have sufficed. Furthermore, washing it is recommended to avoid scholarly disagreement.
