What is the ruling on a Muslim woman who does not pray marrying a Christian man, and is she considered to have left Islam, and is her mother entitled to disinherit her?
A woman who marries a disbeliever commits a grave sin, and her marriage is invalid. However, her action does not constitute apostasy from Islam unless she deems marriage to a disbeliever permissible. Her family does not have the right to disinherit her for this reason, as the impediments to inheritance are differences in religion, homicide, and slavery.
If she occasionally misses some prayers, she is disobedient, but according to the preponderant opinion, she does not become a disbeliever by doing so. However, if she does not pray at all, scholars have differed regarding her ruling. Those who consider her a disbeliever would disinherit her, while those who do not consider her a disbeliever—and they are the majority—would not disinherit her.
