Why must children follow the religion of their Muslim father in the marriage of a Muslim man to a foreign woman? And what is the ruling on a Muslim man marrying a divorced foreign woman, knowing that divorce is not permissible in Christianity except upon the death of the husband or divorce outside the Church?

The child follows the religion of the better of his parents, which is the preponderant view among jurists, because Islam is the true religion; it is superior and nothing is superior to it. If the foreign woman is Jewish or Christian, it is permissible for a Muslim to marry her if she is chaste and free of impediments, such as being married. It is not permissible to marry her if she is married, due to the Almighty's saying: "And [also forbidden are] all married women." The fact that a Christian woman is not permitted to divorce or remarry except upon the death of her husband does not make it permissible to marry her while she is still married to another man. She must seek a way to obtain a divorce, and her embracing Islam would free her from these restrictions.
