Is masturbation permissible when one's desires are aroused, in order to avoid speaking with women and falling into the forbidden acts that result from that?

Masturbation is not permissible for the reason mentioned, as it is not a necessity that permits it. Masturbation is forbidden by most scholars. The statements attributed to Ibn Abbas and what was narrated from Ahmad concerning it apply only to one who fears falling into zina (unlawful sexual intercourse) and sodomy with intense fear.
