What is the recompense for a person in authority who exploits his position for personal gain and exploits his subordinates, and what is incumbent upon the subordinate to do, with evidence from the Quran or Sunnah?

Employees are wage-earners for the concerned entity, not for influential individuals. It is forbidden for an official to assign employees tasks that are not part of their job description, because it is an aggression against the employees and a betrayal of trust. Allah says: "O you who have believed, do not betray Allah and the Messenger or betray your trusts while you know." And the Hadith states: "Each of you is a shepherd and each of you is responsible for his flock."

Severe warning has been issued against anyone who hires a person, takes full work from him, but does not give him his wages. In the Qudsi Hadith: "There are three whose adversary I shall be on the Day of Resurrection: a man who gave a promise by Me and then betrayed it; a man who sold a free person and consumed his price; and a man who hired a laborer, took full work from him, but did not give him his wages."

The subordinate has the right to refuse any work outside the scope of his official duties, and has the right to complain to someone who can relieve him of this injustice.
