What is the dispute within the Shafi'i school of thought regarding the reach of the reward for reciting the Qur'an to the deceased, what is their adopted opinion, and what are the evidences and references that can be presented to the Imam?

Scholars have differed regarding the efficacy of dedicating the reward of reciting the Quran to the deceased. The well-known position within the Shafi'i school of thought is that it does not reach them, based on the Almighty’s saying: "And that man will not have except what he endeavored for," and the prophetic tradition: "When a person dies, his deeds are cut off except for three." However, some Shafi'i scholars and the majority of scholars believe that the reward does reach them, either absolutely or with conditions, such as the recitation being in the presence of the deceased, or with the intention for them, or by supplicating thereafter, and that a reward similar to it, not the exact same, be dedicated to them.
