It is incumbent upon the wife to obey her husband regarding intimacy, and she should not refuse unless there is a valid excuse such as illness, menstruation, an obligatory fast, or harm that would befall her. The husband has the right to enjoy his wife whenever he wishes, as long as he does not harm her or distract her from obligatory duties. If the husband demands more intercourse than his wife can bear, they should come to an agreement on an amount that suits their circumstances. If they dispute, the judge shall determine it. If the wife refuses intimacy due to harm caused by intercourse, she is excused. Masturbation is not permissible. If the wife is menstruating, it is permissible to engage in intimacy with her in areas other than the vagina. The foundation of the marital relationship is affection, compassion, and understanding.
