It is permissible to use an original copy of a program to repair all devices, unless this violates the terms of obtaining the original copy or involves deceit or trickery. However, if it violates the terms of the program producers and owners, then it is not permissible. Likewise, it is permissible to use free, unprotected programs to repair devices or download them for a fee.
