Do the events that transpired at the wedding — the niqab-wearing bride standing with the groom in the street in front of men, a group of women playing drums among the men, displaying what is happening among the men in the women's hall via screens, and photographing the groom and guests with video and still cameras — constitute a violation of Islamic law? And is it permissible for the wife to view the groom’s photos taken with a mobile phone?

The scholars have unanimously agreed on the prohibition of a woman looking at non-mahram (definition) men with lust. As for her looking at them without lust, there is a difference of opinion, and the preponderant view is that it is permissible when there is a need, and prohibited when there is no need. Based on this, it is not permissible for the wife to look at the groom's picture, as it carries the suspicion of fitna (temptation/discord). The husband should prevent her from doing so, whether through direct viewing or via pictures and video. The photographing of wedding parties has two cases: The first is photographing women, which is prohibited because it entails men viewing their awrah (private parts). The second is restricting photography to men, which is disputed due to the prohibition of photographing living beings, and it is safer to avoid it.
