Is obedience to parents obligatory in forsaking the dissemination of truth, the exposition of injustice, and the call to God, for fear that the son might be subjected to arrest?

Calling to Allah, enjoining good, and forbidding evil are communal obligations (fard al-kifaya). They may become individual obligations (fard al-ayn) for a Muslim if no one else fulfills them. If these duties become individual obligations, then it is not permissible to obey parents if they prevent a Muslim from performing them, because such obedience would be in disobedience [to Allah]. However, if they have not become individual obligations, then it is obligatory to obey them. It is also obligatory to endure harm when enjoining good and forbidding evil, as Luqman said to his son: "O my son, establish prayer, enjoin what is right, forbid what is wrong, and be patient over what befalls you. Indeed, that is of the matters [requiring] determination." (Quran 31:17). Most often, performing these duties through social media is a communal obligation due to the large number of people undertaking it.
