Can a person free his deceased Muslim father from hellfire by sacrificing a large animal (badana) on his behalf, and does "badana" include cows and camels?

The reward for all acts of devotion reaches the deceased and benefits them. Sacrificing a camel or a cow on behalf of the deceased and dedicating its reward to them will benefit them, Allah willing. However, there is no definitive text stating that this will secure their release from Hellfire.
