What is the ruling on listening to the Qur’an during sleep with the intention that the Muslim’s last deed be in remembrance of Allah?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

It is permissible for a Muslim to listen to the Quran, lectures, or anything otherwise permissible before sleeping. It has been reported in the Sunnah that among the remembrances (adhkar) before sleep is the recitation of verses and surahs from the Quran, such as the Prophet (peace be upon him) blowing into his hands with the Mu'awwidhat (Surahs Al-Falaq and An-Nas) and wiping his body, and reciting Ayat al-Kursi, which protects from Satan. This listening instills tranquility and serenity in the heart, and there is no harm in it, even if the listener falls asleep.
