Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you. Who are those for whom there is no repentance?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

The fundamental principle is that the sincere repentance of a penitent is accepted by Allah, as stated in His Almighty saying: "And indeed, I am forgiving to whoever repents, believes, and does righteousness, and then is guided." As for the statement of the jurists, "There is no repentance for certain categories," such as the heretic (zindeeq) or one whose crime necessitating a prescribed punishment (hadd) has been brought before the Imam, what is meant is that the punishment is not waived for them, either because their repentance is not certain, or because waiving the punishment would lead to the violation of sacred prohibitions and the nullification of prescribed penalties.
