How is proper rinsing of the mouth (madmadah) performed during ghusl (ritual bath), and is it obligatory to make the water reach the entire mouth and throat? What is the ruling concerning the prayers of one who previously did not make the water reach their entire mouth and throat during madmadah?

We have clarified that rinsing the mouth (madmadah) and sniffing water into the nose (istinshaq) are Sunnah acts in Wudu' (ablution) and Ghusl (ritual bath). One who omits them, their purification is valid, though performing them is more cautious. For madmadah, the minimum is to circulate water in the mouth; it is not a condition to move the water around. The Wudu' and Ghusl of one who merely moves the water in their mouth is valid. Exaggeration in madmadah is circulating water throughout the entire mouth. Some scholars held that circulating water in the mouth is not a condition for madmadah, while the Malikis stipulate circulating the water to achieve the Sunnah of madmadah.
