What is the ruling on the fast of one who completed her drink after the Fajr adhan, based on the hadith: "If one of you hears the call to prayer and the vessel is in his hand, let him not put it down until he fulfills his need from it," and is she required to make up for previous Ramadans in which she unknowingly did that?

The majority of scholars are of the opinion that the adhan (call to prayer) referred to in the hadith is the first call before the entry of the Fajr (dawn) time, or in cases of doubt regarding the arrival of Fajr. There is no proof in it to permit eating or drinking after Fajr has arrived or during the adhan of the muezzin. Some jurists, however, have adopted the permissibility indicated by the hadith. For those who follow their opinion, we hope that they will not be sinful and will not be required to make up the fast.
