Does Allah withhold sustenance from those who do not preserve it well?
Allah has made people trustees over their wealth and forbidden them from squandering or wasting it. He commanded them to be moderate in spending, as He Almighty said: [And spend out of that which He has made you trustees over], and His saying: [And do not give the foolish your wealth which Allah has made a means of sustenance for you]. He also forbade extravagance, saying: [And do not make your hand shackled to your neck, nor extend it completely, lest you sit blameworthy and regretful]. So, whoever squanders their wealth and does not manage it well will end up in poverty as a consequence of not being grateful for the blessing. In this regard, one should supplicate: "O Allah, I ask You for the word of sincerity in anger and pleasure, and moderation in wealth and poverty," and "O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the cessation of Your blessing, the departure of Your well-being, the suddenness of Your vengeance, and all Your displeasure."
