A girl should be keen on a man of religion and good character, as he is more likely to know his wife's rights.

Information about the suitor's character can be obtained by asking trustworthy individuals who are familiar with his comings and goings. If they praise him, the girl should perform Istikhara (prayer for guidance).

If the young man possesses some undesirable traits, coupled with a feeling of aversion towards him, we do not advise accepting him as a husband, unless the girl fears that she will remain unmarried for a long time, while emphasizing the importance of Istikhara.
