Is the Hadith described as "Hasan Sahih" by Imam Al-Tirmidhi admissible as proof in legal rulings?

The hadiths that are used as evidence in legal rulings are the authentic (sahih) and good (hasan) hadiths. As for weak (da'if) hadiths, they are not used as evidence in legal rulings or beliefs. However, it is permissible to narrate them and act upon them in matters other than legal rulings, such as stories and the virtues of deeds.

The hadiths that Al-Tirmidhi described as "hasan sahih" (good and authentic) are not outside the scope of acceptance. No scholar has ever said that Al-Tirmidhi intends to weaken a hadith with this description. However, other imams of hadith may dispute Al-Tirmidhi's ruling on a hadith, and rule it as weak, in which case it would not be a proof.
