What is the ruling of Sharia on the housing loan that the bank grants to the employee, where the bank retains a portion of the amount to open it as a deposit whose yield covers the interest of the loan, and the employee pays a small difference monthly?

It is not permissible to work in an interest-based bank, as it constitutes cooperation in sin. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, cursed the one who consumes interest, the one who pays it, the one who records it, and its two witnesses. The aforementioned loan is forbidden interest, as the monthly paid amount and the return on the deposit represent usurious interest, in addition to another usurious investment, which is the deposit itself, as it is an interest-bearing loan for which the bank pays interest. Allah Almighty says: (O you who have believed, fear Allah and give up what remains [due to you] of interest, if you should be believers. And if you do not, then be informed of a war [against you] from Allah and His Messenger. But if you repent, you have your principal – [thus] you do no wrong, nor are you wronged) (Quran 2:278-279). And the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "A dirham of usury that a man consumes knowingly is worse in the sight of Allah than thirty-six acts of fornication."
