Is possessing CDs that contain a copy of the original software considered an infringement on the ownership of the company that produced the software, and if so, how can one apologize to the company?

It is impermissible to possess pirated software without the permission of its owners, as this constitutes an infringement upon their financial rights. Whoever possesses such software must repent and seek forgiveness from its owners, either verbally or through any means of communication. If they do not accept, then compensation in the form of a monetary amount equivalent to the value of the software must be offered.
