What is the ruling on imitating the sound of dogs, and why?

It is not permissible for a Muslim to imitate the sounds of dogs, donkeys, and the like; because imitating animals is blameworthy and forbidden by Islamic law, and it has several facets:

Imitation of the deficient: The Lawgiver prohibited imitating deficient human beings, so how much more so is imitating blameworthy animals? Imitating them may lead to acquiring their blameworthy characteristics.

Censuring humans by animals: The Holy Quran censured those who become like cattle, which indicates the ugliness of such imitation.

Quranic censure: Allah likened humans to dogs and donkeys in contexts of censure and humiliation, so whoever intentionally imitates them is more deserving of blame.

Bad example: The noble Hadith prohibits the likeness of a dog (one who retracts his gift is like one who retracts his vomit), which indicates that imitating a dog is considered a "bad example" for a believer.

Companion of devils and repulsive to angels: The sounds of dogs and donkeys are associated with devils and repulsive to angels, and imitating them invites devils and repels angels.

Altering creation: Imitating animals leads to altering Allah's creation and corrupting the innate disposition, just as the Prophet (peace be upon him) cursed men who imitate women and vice versa.
