What is the ruling on thoughts that cause a person to doubt the Islamic creed and make it difficult for him to repel them, making him feel like surrendering to them if he leaves them, and what is the way to be rid of them?
Source: FtawySummary from Ftawy's records · added here Sep 2, 2026
Complete disregard for obsessive thoughts and fantasies is the only cure for them. There is no sin upon the one who experiences them as long as he dislikes and repels them. This disregard is the path to rectifying one's condition and adhering to religious practices. For the treatment of obsessive thoughts, the following is recommended: seeking refuge in Allah from Satan, increasing remembrance of Allah and recitation of the Quran, especially Al-Baqarah, increasing acts of obedience and supplication, purifying the home from sins, reducing solitude, and associating with righteous people.
