The answer

is not obligatory on a bonus until one full lunar year has passed from the date of its receipt. If someone possesses the (the minimum amount upon which zakat is due) and then acquires other money not generated from the first (such as a bonus or inheritance), then if they wish to be precise, they should assign a separate lunar year for each amount. However, if they prefer ease and are content to prioritize the needs of the poor, they should pay zakat on all the money they own when the lunar year completes for the first nisab they possessed. This is greater in reward and clears one's liability more completely.
