"Al-tab’ah" (edition) and "al-tahqeeq" (verification/critical editing) in the context of publishing books and heritage may refer to the same meaning if the printed book has been verified. However, if the printed book has not been verified, it is simply referred to as "such and such an edition." Verification is the faithful presentation of the book as its author intended, as much as possible. A verified book is one whose information is accurate and whose text is as close as possible to the form left by its author. Perhaps the best edition of the book "Madarij al-Salikin" is the Dar Ibn Khuzaymah edition, verified by Amir bin Ali Yasin.
