What is the ruling on someone—whether husband or wife—who repeatedly cursed the religion, then regretted it, repented, and uttered the Two Testimonies of Faith, but did not inform the other party? Is the marriage annulled? And should they inform the other party, or should they conceal it?

Blaspheming religion is an act of disbelief (kufr), and repentance from it is accepted, even if apostasy recurs. Apostasy affects the marriage contract, as scholars differed on whether separation occurs immediately upon apostasy or after the expiration of the waiting period ('iddah) before repentance, and whether this separation constitutes an annulment (faskh) or a divorce (talaq). If one of the spouses repents between himself and Allah before the 'iddah expires, the marriage remains valid, and he is not required to inform the other party.
