The answer

Children must maintain ties with their paternal uncle, even if he severs ties with them. Obedience to the mother is only in what is good, not in disobedience to the Creator. Therefore, they are not permitted to cut off their uncle in obedience to their mother. They should think well of their uncle and can maintain ties with him without their mother's knowledge, while striving to advise her gently and explain the religious ruling on maintaining kinship ties. They must also strive to reconcile between their mother and their uncle, as this is among the best deeds. In the pursuit of reconciliation, it is permissible to convey words that are not rooted in reality to remove animosity.
