Is it permissible to insert a finger into the anus?

Inserting a finger into the anus without a legitimate need is impermissible, whether it is done by a man to himself or to his wife. It is prohibited and is an act of the most evil of people, because "from a man, it is like sodomy (liwat), and from a woman, it is like lesbianism (musaḥaqah)."
