The mother's right is great, and honoring and obeying her is obligatory. However, it is not her right to prevent her son from traveling if there is a benefit for him and no danger in it. Traveling is not an act of disobedience if it is for work purposes in a safe Muslim country, while still being obligated to treat the mother kindly and seek her pleasure.
