An orphan who possesses sufficient wealth for his needs is not eligible for charity; rather, it is obligatory to care for him, manage his wealth, and raise him. One can show kindness to the daughter of a deceased friend through advice, care, guidance, and gifts. Charity and sponsorship are for those who are most in need, then those who are next most in need. The sponsor of an orphan is one who takes care of his affairs through financial support and upbringing, and the one who strives for the widow is he who manages what is good for her and protects her. Caution should be exercised when dealing with a non- widow, avoiding seclusion with her or looking at what is not permissible.
