What should a daughter do who killed her father in defense of her mother and now wants to repent? Should she donate her inherited share of her father's property to the other heirs, and what should she do with the pension she has been receiving since her father's death?

Unjustly killing a soul is one of the gravest sins, incurring worldly punishments such as retribution (Qisas), blood money (Diyah), and disinheritance, along with severe chastisement in the hereafter. However, if the killing is justified, such as to repel an aggressor (ṣāʾil) – like a father unjustly assaulting his son or wife – and there is no other means to repel him except killing, then there is no blame upon the killer. Some scholars hold that in this case, he inherits and is not disinherited. This kind of killing, according to the preponderant view, does not prevent inheritance because it is a justified killing. The aggression should be repelled by the least harmful means first, then the next least harmful. Furthermore, repentance is accepted in all circumstances, even for intentional killing.
