What is the interpretation of the negative thoughts that accompany a successful and sociable young man, causing his hands and legs to tremble when interacting with others or praying in public places, while these symptoms disappear in his home and with his family, and do these symptoms indicate a mental illness or intrusive thoughts (waswasah)?
It is advisable to consult a specialized doctor, for Allah has not sent down a disease except that He has sent down a cure for it, and the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, commanded seeking treatment. If it is not an organic illness, then consult a psychiatrist. If that does not help, it might be the whisperings of Satan, or possession by jinn, or sorcery. In such a case, one must recite the Quranic verses and remembrances (adhkar) to nullify sorcery and seek healing. Before and after all this, one must observe the obligatory duties towards Allah Almighty and the narrated remembrances, and keep away from actions forbidden by Islamic law.
