What is the response to one who claims that the miracle of the splitting of the moon was magic, and what is the recompense for a sorcerer who claims prophethood?

The people of Mecca asked the Prophet (peace be upon him) for a sign to prove his truthfulness, so he pointed to the moon and it split into two halves, but they accused him of sorcery, persisting in their stubbornness. Al-Saadi confirms that this was a great sign and could not be concealed. Ibn Taymiyyah clarifies that it is part of sound human nature that Allah does not support a liar with a sign to mislead people. He also states that the difference between a prophet and a sorcerer is immense; prophets call to monotheism and justice, while sorcerers love polytheism and its adherents. As for the recompense of those sorcerers who claim prophethood, it is the manifestation of their falsehood and their disgrace in this world, in addition to the punishment that awaits them in the Hereafter.
