A woman is not permitted to ride alone in a car with a non- driver, due to the unlawful seclusion involved, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "No man is alone with a woman but Satan is the third." If the seclusion is removed by the presence of another person, it is preferable for the woman to sit in the back seat, and for a man or a woman from her mahrams to sit next to the driver.
