What is the authenticity and intent of the phrase "We have not seen God with our eyes, but we have known Him with our minds," which is circulated among common people, and what is the reason for forbidding it, and its evidence?

There is no harm in the phrase "proving the existence of God through reason," because proving the existence of Allah Almighty is done through both reason and revelation. However, the details of knowledge and religious obligations are only established through revelation, and sound reason does not contradict revelation.

The imams of the Muslims have agreed that no one sees Allah with their own eyes in this world, except for what they differed upon regarding the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and the majority of the imams are of the opinion that he did not see Him in this world.

The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Know that none of you will see his Lord until he dies."
