It is safer to separate men and women to prevent temptation, but it is permissible for them to gather if Islamic guidelines are observed. Women should not speak in a soft, alluring voice, nor should they talk to men without need, and they must adhere to the Islamic hijab. Men, for their part, must lower their gaze and avoid speaking to women without need. There should be no closeness that could lead to touching; otherwise, sitting together becomes forbidden. This is also on condition that a mahram accompanies the fiancée.
