Is persistence and excess in singing considered among the major sins, and is adopting this opinion the most cautious approach, knowing that some scholars consider it a major sin absolutely?

The word "الأحوط" (the more cautious/preferable) was not mentioned in the original fatwa (definition). Instead, we presented the two opinions of the scholars. It became clear to us that merely listening to singing is a minor sin (saghirah) and not originally a major sin (kabirah), though it can become a major sin depending on the person's circumstances. The disagreement is not about the prohibition of singing, as it is forbidden in all cases. One does not say "it is more cautious to avoid it" because minor sins must be avoided.
