How can one atone for stealing unneeded items from three stores?

Theft is forbidden in Islam. Whoever takes something without right must return it to its owners, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The hand is responsible for what it has taken until it returns it." Stolen items must be returned to their owners, and it is not sufficient to give them away as charity as long as returning them is possible.
