Is it permissible for a student to miss congregational prayers during exam periods?

Congregational prayer is obligatory for able-bodied men. A student is excused from missing congregational prayer if the prayer begins while he is in the examination room and has not yet finished, fearing that leaving would result in failure or a lower grade. Among the other excuses are fear for one's property, livelihood, or the loss of something entrusted to one's care. It is not permissible to abandon congregational prayer under the pretext of preparing for exams and devoting oneself to them, as this is a clear transgression and not a legitimate excuse for missing congregational prayer. Rather, it is a dereliction on the part of the student, and piety towards Allah is the means to success.
